Director Jason Holmes Puts Belvin Perry Jr. Back on the Bench in new Short Film "Shaky Ground"
EntSun News/10775216
ORLANDO, Fla. - May 2, 2019 - EntSun -- Short flim "Shaky Ground" from young director and filmmaker on the rise Jason Holmes digs deep into the important question of how wealth and race can influence so-called "Stand Your Ground" legal cases.
Florida wasted no time welcoming film back after the successful legislation's ink barely dried. FAMU, the Alma mater of award-winning director and producer Will Packer, welcomed Honorable Belvin Perry Jr. back to the bench in a law drama short film that's set to hit the film festival circuit this summer.
Given FAMU's dedication to their on-campus film screenings and community involvement, it prompted a pairing with up and coming director Jason Holmes (https://jmauriceh.wixsite.com/mysite) from Orlando, Florida. Holmes who received recognition for his previous work "The Black Burden", is wasting no time pairing with the influential in Florida to make a case for film to return to the sunshine state.

With his new film, "Shaky Ground", Holmes is aided by Perry Jr., in this story as a wealthy defendant seizes the nation's spotlight in a controversial stand your ground case. The film is sure to make waves with the buzz that is surrounding the film and the topic in general. As we keep an eye on Holmes and the pool of talent in the state, we're interested to see how things develop with Florida's neighboring state under fire with many of the film elite.
"The Stand Your Ground law is something that directly impacts many communities and needs to be looked at very closely with things like race and class seriously addressed," commented Holmes. "I predict that 'Shaky Ground' picks up a lot of interest on the film circuit because that is what the film does with the benefit of being in the presence of a truly brilliant and inspirational legal mind."
