(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia, in collaboration with the State Historical Society of Missouri, is proud to announce the upcoming 2026 Celebration of the Arts. This highly anticipated event will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the State Historical Society of Missouri located at 605 Elm St.

The event will be hosted by Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and Dr. Lucas Buffaloe and aims to raise proceeds for the Columbia Arts Fund. In addition to supporting the local arts community, this year's event will also honor an individual who has made significant contributions to the arts through their work with a City-funded nonprofit organization. Attendees can also look forward to the unveiling of the annual commemorative poster (America 250 edition) created by local artist Lisa Franko.

The ultimate goal of this event is to grow the Columbia Arts Fund and expand access and appreciation for arts programs and events within the community. By doing so, it will help cultivate Columbia's unique culture.
