Columbia: Solid Waste Utility hosts second recycling drop-off event

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia Solid Waste Utility is organizing a recycling drop-off event on Saturday, August 29th from 8 a.m. to noon at the Grissum Building located at 1313 Lakeview Ave. This event aims to encourage residents to properly dispose of their recyclable materials.

Residents are advised to enter the parking lot west of the Grissum Building where staff will be available to assist in sorting and placing materials into the designated containers. It is requested that residents separate their materials by type, using mixed containers and mixed fibers.

In addition to mixed fibers and containers, glass bottles and jars will also be collected for recycling. However, only glass containers will be accepted at this event.

The accepted mixed containers include plastic bottles and containers marked as 1 or 2 with screw-on lids, aluminum cans, and metal food cans. Mixed fibers such as cardboard, newspaper, and office paper are also accepted.

To ensure smooth traffic flow at the site, drivers are advised that no left turns will be allowed when entering or exiting the site. Instead, they are requested to enter from the east side off Lakeview Avenue and turn right. When leaving, drivers will also be asked to turn right onto Lakeview Avenue.
