Columbia Police respond to weapons incident on West Worley Street

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a weapons incident on July 24th at approximately 11:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Worley Street. According to a witness, a man identified as Glen Lee Parey, 53, of Columbia, was seen standing near the street and pointing guns at passing vehicles. The witness immediately alerted the police.
As officers were en route to the scene, Parey also called 911 and made threats towards dispatchers and police. In response, Columbia Police's SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Team were called in to assist with the situation.
Parey was eventually arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault, second-degree harassment, unlawful use of weapons, resisting arrest, misuse of 911, and active warrants. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries during the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652. The case number for this incident is 2026-007041 and it falls under several Missouri statutes including misuse of 911 (190.308), assault in the fourth degree (565.056), harassment in the second degree (565.091), unlawful use of a weapon (571.030), and resisting arrest (575.150).
