(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police Department Pursues and Arrests Suspect After High-Speed Chase
On the evening of January 14, Columbia Police officers attempted to stop a 2019 Toyota Yaris near the intersection of Range Line Street and Interstate 70. The stop was initiated due to suspicion of drug activity, a stop sign violation, and felony driving without a license. However, the vehicle failed to comply and fled east on Interstate 70.
A pursuit ensued as officers followed the suspect's vehicle, but it was eventually terminated near the Route 63 Connector. Despite this, another officer spotted the suspect and continued the chase. The suspect then collided with a 2013 Ford F-150 near Trimble Road and Brickston Road.
The suspect attempted to flee on foot and even tried to steal another car before being apprehended by officers. Both the suspect and their passenger were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Ford F-150 suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
