Columbia: Lane closures due to road work on North Garth Avenue and South Fairview Road, March 23-27
EntSun News/11087031
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia's Public Works Street division crews will be busy next week as they perform road work at two locations in the city. According to a press release from the City of Columbia, the work is scheduled to take place during the week of March 23.
The first location where road work will be conducted is on North Garth Avenue between Parkade Boulevard and East Craig Street, specifically in front of Parkade Elementary School. The second location is on South Fairview Road near Malibu Court, in front of the Fairview Park tennis courts.
The main focus of the road work will be to replace sections of failed concrete pavement at both locations. This will involve removing deteriorated concrete and pouring new concrete panels. To ensure safety for both workers and drivers, one lane will remain open to traffic at each location. Flaggers and signs will also be present to guide vehicles through the work zones.

Drivers should expect delays while traveling through these areas and are advised to use caution. It is also recommended that alternative routes be considered when possible. The duration of the road work is expected to vary at each location, with one day allocated for North Garth Avenue and two days for South Fairview Road.
However, weather conditions may play a role in delaying the completion of the project. In case of rain or unfavorable temperatures, crews will work as conditions allow. If weather permits, work on North Garth Avenue will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 23 and is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on the same day. Work on South Fairview Road will begin at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24 and is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.
In case of any delays due to weather conditions, crews may continue working throughout the remainder of the week with all lanes expected to reopen by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27. The City of Columbia urges drivers to plan their routes accordingly and to be patient during the road work.
