Columbia: Elevators temporarily out of service in Short Street, Plaza parking garages

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - Two downtown parking garages are currently experiencing elevator outages, causing inconvenience for customers. The Eighth and Walnut Plaza Parking Garage, located at 17 N. Eighth St., and the Short Street Parking Garage, located at 1110 E. Walnut St., both have elevators that are temporarily out of service.

Despite the elevator issues, both garages remain open and fully functional for parking. Customers can still access the garages using the one operational elevator at each location or by using the stairs if they are able to do so.

At the Eighth and Walnut Plaza Parking Garage, the elevator on the southwest corner of the building will be out of service for two months or longer due to maintenance and repairs. During this time, customers are advised to use the elevator on the southeastern corner of the garage.

Similarly, at the Short Street Parking Garage, the elevator on the northwestern corner will be out of service indefinitely for maintenance and repairs. Customers should use the elevator on the southwestern corner of the building during this outage.

It is important to note that all areas of both garages remain accessible by wheelchair. Customers who require an elevator can still access all parking levels and other areas of the garage by using the operational elevators.

Technicians have been notified about both elevator issues and plans are being developed for necessary maintenance. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Inconveniences caused by these temporary outages are regretted and efforts are being made to resolve them as soon as possible.
