Columbia: Community members invited to participate in homelessness Strategic Plan process
EntSun News/11099771
(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ The City of Columbia is taking steps to address the issue of homelessness in their community. A Steering Committee has been formed to create a Strategic Plan that will guide future efforts to combat homelessness. The committee is seeking input from community members through a roundtable discussion and survey.
The roundtable discussion will take place on Thursday, Aug. 27 at the ARC, located at 1701 W. Ash St. The event will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and participants are encouraged to stay for the full discussion. A facilitator will lead small-group discussions using prepared questions to gather feedback from attendees.
To ensure proper accommodations, the committee is asking for RSVPs, although they are not required. Attendees can RSVP through a provided link or by contacting City staff at least 48 hours before the event for ADA accommodations.

For those unable to attend the roundtable discussion, an anonymous survey is available for community members to provide their feedback. The survey can be found online and takes only a few minutes to complete.
In addition to gathering input from the public, the Steering Committee is also conducting focus groups, discussions, and interviews with various stakeholders such as people experiencing homelessness, service providers, business owners, first responders, and more.
All feedback collected through these efforts will be used to shape recommendations and action items in the Strategic Plan. The plan will be presented to the Columbia City Council later this year.
The Steering Committee encourages all community members to participate in this process and appreciates their time and input in shaping the Strategic Plan. Updates about the process can be found on the BeHeardCoMo website.
This initiative by the City of Columbia demonstrates their commitment to addressing homelessness in their community and working towards finding solutions that benefit all residents. With input from various stakeholders and community members, it is hoped that this Strategic Plan will pave the way for effective measures in tackling this pressing issue.
