(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ The City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs recently held its annual Celebration of the Arts fundraiser at the State Historical Society of Missouri on August 19th. The event, hosted by Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and Dr. Lucas Buffaloe, aimed to raise funds for the Columbia Arts Fund.
One of the highlights of the evening was the unveiling of the 2026 City of Columbia Commemorative Poster. Since 1992, the city has produced an annual poster to showcase the creativity and beauty of Columbia. This year's special "America 250" edition features a stunning piece titled "Missouri Star Quilt" by local artist and educator Lisa Franko. The poster is available for purchase at $20 each at the Convention and Visitors Bureau located in the Walton Building.
In addition to showcasing local talent, the Celebration of the Arts also pays tribute to individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts community in Columbia. This year, out of numerous deserving nominees, Judith LeFevre was recognized for her dedication and impact on one of the city's funded arts organizations. Mayor Barbara Buffaloe presented LeFevre with a special recognition for her lifelong commitment as a musician, educator, and advocate for the arts in Columbia.
