Colorado Springs: South Academy Boulevard ramp to Milton Proby Parkway to close starting Monday

~ Colorado Springs, CO - Starting Monday, January 26 at 6 a.m., the southbound South Academy Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound Milton Proby Parkway will be closed for approximately four months. This closure is necessary for water and drainage utility upgrades in the area.

According to officials, the closure is expected to last until the end of May, but may be subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are advised to use Hancock Expressway as an alternative route to connect to eastbound Milton Proby Parkway. From there, they can continue east to access Colorado Springs Airport via the designated detour route.

Funded by voters through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA), this project marks the first major rebuild of South Academy Boulevard since its opening in 1969. The north section was completed in late 2024.
