Colorado Springs: Help shape the future of parks, trails, and open spaces in your community
EntSun News/11082224
~ Colorado Springs residents have been given the opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping the future of their city's parks, trails, open spaces, facilities, cultural services, and programming. The city has launched a new Vision Survey that is open to all residents and aims to gather their input on long-term priorities for the Park System Master Plan.
The survey comes after the completion of the Park System Assessment, which focused on understanding the current conditions and needs of the park system. Now, the focus has shifted towards identifying what matters most for the future of Colorado Springs' parks. This includes priorities such as park maintenance, safety and comfort, trails, access, programming, and future investments.
Acting Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Kim King emphasized the importance of this transition from understanding where they are today to deciding where they want to go as a community. She encourages all residents to take a few minutes to share their perspective and help guide the direction of the park system.

The Vision Survey covers various aspects such as park use, safety and comfort, system priorities, recreation and cultural programming, as well as perspectives on funding and tradeoffs. It is voluntary and takes approximately six to eight minutes to complete. The city urges residents to respond based on their individual and household needs and priorities. The survey will remain open until midnight on Friday, Feb. 13.
The updated Park System Master Plan will replace the City's 2014 plan and serve as a long-term framework for decisions regarding parks, trails, open spaces, recreation and cultural services as the community continues to grow and evolve. The results from the Vision Survey will directly inform the plan's long-range vision and priorities.
Residents can access the Vision Survey or learn more about the project by visiting ColoradoSprings.gov/ParkSystemMasterPlan. This is an excellent opportunity for Colorado Springs residents to have a say in shaping their city's future by sharing their thoughts on what matters most to them in terms of parks, recreation, and cultural services. The city looks forward to receiving valuable input from its residents and using it to create a plan that reflects the community's needs and priorities.
