Colorado Springs Airport Monthly Update — June 2026

~ Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has reported a 4.4 percent decline in passenger enplanements for the month of June 2026, with a total of 111,816 passengers compared to 116,925 in June 2025. This decrease is in line with national travel trends, which have been affected by economic uncertainty and rising fuel costs.

Leading the way in year-over-year growth was Delta Air Lines, with a significant increase of 27.0 percent in enplanements to 15,039 passengers. This growth can be attributed to the airline's twice-daily service to Atlanta (ATL) on larger aircraft compared to the previous year, as well as a second daily frequency to Salt Lake City (SLC) and daily seasonal service to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) through September 9.

Allegiant Air also saw positive growth in its second June operating from COS, with enplanements increasing by 11.1 percent. The airline currently serves St. Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE) and Orange County-Santa Ana (SNA), with seasonal service to Phoenix-Mesa (AZA) set to resume on October 1.

On the other hand, American Airlines reported a decline of 2.9 percent in enplanements, while Southwest Airlines decreased by 6.6 percent and United Airlines declined by 15.0 percent. American's decrease can be attributed to an increase in regional jet operations to their hub in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), while Southwest did not operate flights to Baltimore-Washington (BWI) or Cancun (CUN) during this time period and offered fewer seats to Chicago-Midway compared to last year. United also used smaller regional jets for flights to Denver than they did in June 2025.

Despite these declines, Colorado Springs Airport remains focused on sustainable long-term growth by strengthening partnerships with airlines, supporting existing routes, and pursuing expanded air service to provide more travel options for residents and visitors in the Pikes Peak region.

In other news, COS recently served as the official airport sponsor of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, which took place from July 8-12. This event celebrates one of the region's most historic and iconic traditions. Additionally, on July 31, Art at COS will present an exhibition in partnership with Cottonwood Center for the Arts titled "Many Happy Returns - A Birthday Exhibition for Colorado and America."

Looking ahead to August, COS has a busy flight schedule with daily service to St. Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE) on select dates and service to Santa Ana-Orange County (SNA) on August 3, 7, and 10. Flights to Mesa (AZA) will resume on October 1. Other notable flights include six daily flights to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), daily service to Chicago O'Hare (ORD), twice-daily service to Atlanta (ATL), twice-daily service to Salt Lake City (SLC), daily service to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), three daily flights to Denver (DEN), twice-daily flights to Dallas-Love Field (DAL), and daily service to Houston-Hobby (HOU) except for August 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Passengers can also expect up to three daily flights to Las Vegas (LAS), up to three daily flights to Phoenix (PHX), daily service to San Diego (SAN) on select days, daily service to Chicago-Midway (MDW), and the resumption of service to San Antonio (SAT) on November 21.

In addition, there will be up to twelve daily flights to Denver (DEN), twice-daily flights to Houston-Intercontinental (IAH), and twice-daily flights to Chicago O'Hare (ORD).

To ensure the safety and preparedness of the airport, Colorado Springs Airport and partner agencies will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise on August 19. This exercise, which is required by the Federal Aviation Administration at least once every three years, will test coordinated disaster response among airport personnel, police, fire, emergency medical services, and mutual aid agencies.
