Colorado Springs Airport Monthly Update — July 2026

~ Colorado Springs Airport (COS) has reported a decline in passenger enplanements for the month of July 2026. According to the latest statistics, the airport recorded 115,820 enplanements, which is a 4.2% decrease from the same period last year.

This decline is in line with the national trend as the travel industry continues to face economic challenges and fluctuating fuel prices. The decrease in passengers at COS can also be attributed to various factors such as a reduction in frequency to Salt Lake City (SLC) on Delta Air Lines and aircraft downsizing on American Airlines' routes to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), and Denver (DEN).

However, there was some positive news for COS as Allegiant Air reported a 17.3% increase in enplanements. The airline serves popular routes including St. Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE), Santa Ana-Orange County (SNA), and seasonal service to Phoenix-Mesa (AZA), which is scheduled to resume on October 1st. This marks Allegiant's second year of service from COS and they continue to build market share.

Delta Air Lines also saw a slight increase of 2% in enplanements at COS, rising to 15,571 passengers compared to last year. The airline maintains twice-daily service to Atlanta (ATL) and Salt Lake City (SLC) with seasonal flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) through early September.

The Colorado Springs Airport remains committed to sustainable long-term growth by strengthening airline partnerships, supporting existing routes, and pursuing expanded air service options that enhance travel opportunities for residents and visitors throughout the Pikes Peak region.

In other updates, on August 10th, COS began phase two of Milton E. Proby Parkway roadway rehabilitation project which will continue through mid-October. This includes asphalt milling, crack repair, paving, and final striping on both inbound and outbound lanes. Drivers can expect lane shifts and slower traffic between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. MDT until September 18th. The airport urges motorists to follow electronic signs, obey posted construction zone speed limits, and allow extra travel time. This project is part of the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the airport's primary access roadway for passengers, employees, and partners.

On August 19th, COS joined more than two dozen regional partners to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise aimed at improving safety, readiness, and interagency coordination. The exercise involved local government agencies, emergency services, healthcare providers, military units, and nonprofits. It met Federal Aviation Administration requirements for triennial drills and dedicated a total of 764 hours to testing emergency response capabilities with the participation of 61 individuals as well as 23 evaluators and 53 simulated victims.

The airport also announced its sponsorship of the 50th annual Labor Day Lift Off from September 5th-7th where pilot Chris Smart will fly the COS-branded banner balloon over Memorial Park to celebrate this milestone event. Additionally, the Pikes Peak Air Show will return on September 19th-20th featuring historic and modern aircraft displays, STEM activities, food vendors, and family programming.

Looking ahead to September's flight schedule at Colorado Springs Airport, there will be daily service on select dates to St. Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE) while Phoenix-Mesa (AZA) service resumes on October 1st followed by Santa Ana-Orange County (SNA) on October 2nd. Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) will have six daily flights while Chicago-O'Hare (ORD) will have twice-daily service from September 12th-15th and September 19th-22nd with once daily service on all other days.

Atlanta (ATL) will have twice-daily service except for one flight on September 6th, Salt Lake City (SLC) will have twice-daily service, and Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) will have daily service through September 9th. Chicago-Midway (MDW) will have daily service, Dallas-Love Field (DAL) will have twice-daily service, and Denver (DEN) will have three daily flights.

Houston-Hobby (HOU) will have daily service except for September 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th while Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), San Diego (SAN), and San Antonio (SAT) will all have daily service on select dates. Denver (DEN) will have up to 12 daily flights while Houston-Intercontinental (IAH) and Chicago-O'Hare (ORD) will both have twice-daily service.
