City of Idaho Falls Announces Neighborhood Cleanup Events Starting May 7
EntSun News/11090609
~ Idaho Falls, ID - The City of Idaho Falls has announced the start of their annual Clean & Green citywide cleanup effort, in partnership with the Code Enforcement and Sanitation Division. This initiative aims to provide residents with a convenient way to dispose of unwanted items and maintain the beauty and safety of the city.
Starting on May 7, code enforcement officers and sanitation staff will be hosting a series of neighborhood cleanup events throughout the month. These events will take place on Thursdays through Saturdays for three consecutive weeks, with dumpsters available for proper disposal of household goods, construction debris, and yard waste. The staff will also be present to assist community members with sorting and disposal.
Residents are encouraged to bring their unwanted items to designated locations on specific dates. From May 7-9, the Sweeper Dump at the intersection of Lake Avenue, North Boulevard, and K Street, as well as Russ Freeman Park off Fremont Avenue (glass recycling bin), will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On May 14-16, the Aquatic Center parking lot at the corner of 7th Street and Lee Avenue, as well as Mel Erickson Sunnyside Park on the north side of Sunnyside will be available for drop-offs during the same hours. And finally, from May 21-23, residents can bring their unwanted items to Garfield Substation at Northeast Bonneville Drive and Garfield Street or Old Butte Soccer Complex maintenance shed at 425 N Old Butte Road.

It is important to note that certain types of waste such as hazardous materials, demolition debris, tires, large appliances, and select metals cannot be accepted at these locations. Alternative disposal methods must be used for these items. A flyer with more information on other disposal sites is attached.
For those looking to dispose of household hazardous waste such as paint thinner, batteries, fertilizer or antifreeze, the Bonneville County Transfer Station at 2455 Hemmert Ave. will be open on May 9 and Sept. 12.
The neighborhood cleanup events are part of the city's larger Clean & Green initiative, which promotes community pride, environmental responsibility, and neighborhood revitalization. Residents can find more information about this initiative and disposal guidelines on the attached flyer or by visiting www.idahofallsidaho.gov/1696/Clean-Green-Citywide-Cleanup.
The City of Idaho Falls is committed to keeping the city clean and beautiful for all its residents. These neighborhood cleanup events are just one way they are working towards achieving this goal. So mark your calendars for May 7 and join in on the effort to make Idaho Falls a better place to live.
