Chicago Man, 45, is Allegedly Caught on Camera Breaking Into a West Pullman Home on New Year's Day

CHICAGO - EntSun -- Early in the morning, around 6:30am on New Year's Day, the Chicago Police Department received a distressing 9-1-1 call from a 45-year-old woman near 119th Street and Union Ave. who identified Nathaniel Burress, 45, on camera footage as the man who broke into the rear of her home. "The caller said she viewed this from her camera feed. A known offender Nathaniel Burress, male – Black – xx/xx/1980… said he broke into the home from the garage, the back door and the rear window...and that he was an hour and 39 minutes ago pacing up front. The alarm is 1 hour 39 minutes old…" says an unidentified Chicago Police Department dispatcher at around 8am on Thursday, January 1st, 2026. Ms. RK, a journalist with @Ms_RK_News on TikTok originally broke the viral news story within minutes of hearing the audio come across her scanner, where she listens to CPD activity daily to gather news tips.

Since the publication of the 26-second TikTok reel two days ago, it has received 34,178 views, has been liked 1,203 times, shared 1,063 times, downloaded 193 times, and engaged users in an active conversation with 73 comments. The Chicago community is concerned with this report and has shown support for @Ms_RK_News sharing the information. "That's too close to home," commented Tiffany Johnson, @tiffanynjohnson, a TikTok creator who lives in the neighborhood who has the most liked comment under the post. "Dude, you 45 stalking a woman?" asked Terry Boss, @wild_wild74, a TikTok user with another most-liked comment. One TikTok creator, owner of Butterfly Gawdess Shop, LLC. @butterflygawdess, commented with a photo depicting a woman stick figure holding a Stanley cup in one hand, and firing a handgun from the other hand, which is the second most-liked comment. Many people who live in the West Pullman and surrounding areas are showing a growing concern for their safety and for women and vulnerable populations due to breaking news stories such as the one about Nathaniel Burress, who is still walking free after this alleged incident. The Cook County Jail website does not show him as a person in custody.
