California: Governor Newsom proclaims Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day 2026

~ Sacramento, CA - On March 30, 2026, Governor Gavin Newsom declared the day as "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" in a proclamation issued by the state of California. This proclamation serves as a tribute to the brave men and women who served and sacrificed during one of the nation's most challenging wars.

The Vietnam War lasted for over a decade and claimed the lives of more than 58,000 U.S. service members, including 5,822 Californians. The governor's proclamation comes at a time when he has also announced appointments for various positions in his administration. Madeline Drake has been appointed as Deputy Secretary for Biodiversity and Habitat at the California Natural Resources Agency while 15 Superior Court Judges have been appointed in different counties across the state.

In addition to these appointments, Governor Newsom has also issued an executive order aimed at preventing corruption fueled by insider betting among state officials.
