EntSun News/11082720
~ As the city of Boston prepares for two upcoming events, residents and visitors are encouraged to utilize alternative modes of transportation. The Jewish Consulate has organized an event at the Holocaust Memorial on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. In order to ensure the safety and efficiency of the event, temporary parking regulations will be in place on parts of Union Street and Hanover Street.

According to the Jewish Consulate, attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or take public transit to the event. For those interested in using a bike share service, information on Bluebikes can be found on their website. Additionally, information on the MBTA can be found online. The MBTA advises riders to purchase round-trip tickets for a faster return trip.

In preparation for the event at the Holocaust Memorial, parking restrictions will be in effect throughout Thursday on Hanover Street from Blackstone Street to Congress Street and on the west side of Union Street from North Street to Hanover Street.

In another part of Boston, drivers should also be aware of a bridge closure in Roslindale. The Canterbury Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Friday, September 12 at 9:00 p.m. This closure is due to findings from a recent bridge inspection that deemed it necessary for safety reasons. Pedestrian access will still be available but drivers should follow detour signage in place.

The primary detour route will utilize Hyde Park Avenue, Cummins Highway, Rowe Street, Brown Avenue, and Seymour Street. Eastbound traffic will follow Seymour Street to Brown Avenue and then onto Cummins Highway while westbound traffic will use Hyde Park Avenue to Cummins Highway before turning onto Rowe Street and then Seymour Street.

Drivers traveling through these areas should expect delays and are advised to reduce speed and use caution. The closure of Canterbury Street Bridge is until further notice as MassDOT works towards resolving any issues with the bridge's safety.
