Bloomington: Rogers/Madison/Kinser Corridor Study Enters Next Phase with Focus on Safer Streets for All
EntSun News/11100324
~ Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington is taking steps towards improving the Rogers Street/Madison Street/Kinser Pike Corridor, based on feedback received from community members earlier this spring. The next phase of the Corridor Study will involve presenting preliminary conceptual designs to the public through a series of community events.
City staff will be hosting a Public Workshop on Tuesday, September 1st from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Switchyard Park Pavilion located at 1601 S. Rogers St. This workshop will provide an opportunity for community members to review the preliminary concepts and share their feedback. For those unable to attend, an online survey is available at bton.in/rmk2s.
In addition, residents are encouraged to attend the Transportation Commission Planning Session on Monday, August 24th at 5:30 p.m. in the McCloskey Room of Bloomington City Hall. City staff will also be hosting unscheduled pop-up events along the study area to engage with street users and gather their input on the proposed concepts.

The goal of this corridor study is in line with Bloomington's Vision Zero initiative, which aims to eliminate fatal or severe injury crashes on city roadways by 2039. Over the past decade, there have been a total of 1,406 crashes along or across this corridor, resulting in life-altering injuries for 80 individuals.
The ultimate objective of this study is to create a safer, more accessible, and better-connected multimodal corridor that prioritizes the safety and comfort of all users. This approach not only supports existing neighborhoods but also strengthens vibrant and people-centered places.
To learn more about this study or to complete the online survey, please visit bton.in/rmkcs. The City of Bloomington encourages all community members to participate in these events and have their voices heard as they work towards creating a safer and more connected city.
