Bloomington: E Rogers Road Selected for Implementation of Resident-Led Traffic Calming

EntSun News/11099847
~ A major road in the city has been selected for a traffic calming project, as announced by the Resident-Led Traffic Calming Program. E Rogers Road was chosen as the highest priority corridor for this initiative, which aims to improve safety and reduce vehicle speeds on residential streets.

The decision to focus on E Rogers Road was based on various factors, including vehicle speed, the presence of vulnerable road users, walkability, and past speed-related crashes along the roadway. In order to gather feedback from residents, a public meeting will be held on Thursday, September 10 at Sherwood Oaks Church. The meeting will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and attendees are asked to enter through Door 5 and proceed to the Fireside Room.

During this meeting, neighbors will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on a draft traffic-calming concept for E Rogers Road. For those unable to attend in person, an online survey will be available on the Traffic Calming webpage starting September 10.

The final design concept will then be presented to the Transportation Commission for approval on Monday, September 26 at City Hall Council Chambers. Residents can also participate in this meeting online via Zoom or watch it live on CATS at catstv.net. This project is part of ongoing efforts by the city to prioritize safety and improve residential streets for all members of the community.
