A lake in old Chi-Town symbolic of the tears of dispair; like the cut of a burning onion.
CHICAGO - EntSun -- By: Mooka Da'knowledge Public Relations For So Seductive Kiss Fans
"There seems to be a different Chicago around every street corner, behind every bar, and within every apartment, two-flat, cottage, or bungalow. City of immigrants or city of heartless plutocrats, say what you will, Chicago almost defies interpretation. In many ways, Chicago is like a snake that sheds its skin every thirty years or so, and puts on a new coat to conform to a new reality." —Dominic A. Pacyga, "Chicago: A Biography" (2009)
On December 3, 1818, Illinois became a state, and known for its vegetation, agriculture, and farmland. Around 1840, the northern area of Illinois started to increase in population. This area was named Chicago after the lake filled onions. During the years of 1916 through 1970 many African Americans migrated from the southern states to Chicago.
According to the Encyclopedia of Chicago, there were over 500,000 out of 7 million African Americans that now settled in Chicago were from the southern states. In December of 1959, Chicago entered the era of comedy. A small cabaret theater called The Second City opened its doors. After 60 years Chicago has been labeled comedy city. Some of the prominent comedian has performed within its border. Some of the most famous comedians were breed, and raised in Chicago; like Hannibal Buress, Cecily Strong, and Jim Belushi. According to World Population Review there are 29.62% of African Americans that reside in Chicago. The research by the Media platform T.F.P. revealed that there are only 99 African American comedians in the United States. But there is one new comedian that was not counted that goes by the name Maurice Williams. A name like the great singer Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs of the 1960's. His new comedy track is called war comedy. Is Comedy City doomed for future comedians or will it be reinvented into something new? Well the new Up Comedy Club say's yes! A new eclectic blend
