In the time of home video and as it evolved (good or bad) to laserdisc's, DVD's and Blu-ray many viewers would love the outtakes and behind the scenes footage features on these mediums would further build a relationship with the viewers. TV shows and specials in the 70's and 80's would draw decent viewer ratings and again, not only helped build audience relationships but were also used to draw more attention to shows approaching a new tv season, motion picture sequels and franchises in addition to new projects by the studios.
