United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades's VITA program seeking volunteers

FORT MYERS, Fla. - EntSun -- United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades is seeking residents of Southwest Florida eager to volunteer their time making a real difference in the community. The organization's VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is in need of people to prepare taxes for underserved households in the area.

VITA assists households earning $70,000 or less by preparing and e-filing federal tax returns free of charge, ensuring maximum refunds through tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and American Opportunity Tax Credit. For many families, these refunds mean the difference between making ends meet and facing financial hardship.

United Way will provide volunteers with free training, certification, and all the support needed to become a confident IRS certified tax preparer. Preparers will help hardworking families get the refunds they deserve while gaining valuable experience in finance, customer service, and community engagement. Plus, tax professionals can earn continuing education credits while making a difference.
