Trump on Election Rigging - Warning 10 Years Ago

A Well Known Computer Expert Alerted Us Then With Many Examples

WASHINGTON - EntSun -- President Donald Trump warned tonight about the dangers of vote rigging and election interference, but a computer and voting expert issued the same warning ten years ago.

As Professor John Banzhaf wrote in August of 2016 in WARNING — This Presidential Election Could Be Hacked, Perhaps by a Foreign Power (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2016/08/23/w...):

Donald Trump's claim that the 2016 presidential election could be rigged is all too true, and there's a growing recognition from many different segments of the political spectrum that the winner could be decided by a small group of hackers, perhaps working for a foreign power. . .  . . suggests that the entity determining the outcome could be a foreign power." [emphasis added]

"The reason is that emerging and dangerous computer threats are being added to both old-fashioned and new-electronic ballot fraud techniques. . . . . .  The threat of a rigged presidential election . . . has been dramatically enlarged by the increased use of electronic voting machines (especially in states where they leave no paper trail), by the escalating use of computers and data processing techniques to count or transmit data about votes, and the ever growing ability of hackers both here and abroad to penetrate virtually any computer, even those computers and other electronic devices not connected to the Internet." [emphasis added]

Three months later he argued in Prof. John Banzhaf: Yes, the Election Can Be Rigged (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2016/10/18/prof-john-banzhaf-yes-election-can-rigged/):

"There's suddenly a great deal of discussion about the possible rigging of the forthcoming presidential election.  Donald Trump has argued that it can be rigged – perhaps that it is being rigged – although he seems short on specifics or evidence.  In response, many – including some in the media as part of their "fact checking" role – are trying to assure the public that the election cannot possibly be rigged; that any claims that such a thing might even be possible are "false" or "not true." . . .   these reassurances seem to be false.  Election computers have already been hacked, other hacking has resulted in the release of documents quite capable of affecting the election , ,   have shown how easily such an event could occur. . . I certainly don't ask you to take my word for it.  On the contrary, the evidence very briefly outlined below shows that it is possible (although clearly not probable) for an election to be hacked.  . . . [LISTS EVIDENCE]

Professor Banzhaf is certainly no friend or supporter of Trump.  Ironically, it was his complaint which many years later led to the criminal indictment of Trump in Georgia.
