This Giving Tuesday, Donate to LifeLine Pilots to Help Care Take Flight

PEORIA, Ill. - EntSun -- LifeLine Pilots, a Midwest nonprofit providing free non-emergency medical flights since 1981, is launching its Giving Tuesday campaign to raise $5,000. Thanks to a generous match, every donation made this Tuesday, December 2, will be doubled to fund non-emergency medical flights for patients who need to travel long distances for necessary care.

When someone receives a life-changing diagnosis, the care they need is often far from home, and distance can prevent timely treatment. LifeLine Pilots helps bridge that gap by coordinating free air transportation, through volunteer pilots, for passengers with medical or humanitarian needs.

"We envision a world where every person has equal access to transportation for health care," says Lindsey Kerr, Executive Director of LifeLine Pilots. "Our role is to help by coordinating free, non-emergency flights, but we need donors to help us serve the growing need. Over the last four decades, LifeLine Pilots' volunteer pilots have flown 6.9 million miles on more than 12,000 mission flights with a 100% safety record. This past year alone, they completed nearly 1,100 flights, an 18.3% increase from last year and a 690% over five years.

Each donation made to LifeLine Pilots supports the coordination of life-saving flights, always at no cost to the passenger. Among the many individuals helped this year are:

• Reece, a little girl receiving ongoing specialized medical care in another state
• Chase, a baby boy thriving after a second opinion and a life-saving heart surgery
• Pete, a veteran traveling for cancer treatment when other transportation wasn't possible
• Crystal, who accesses routine care for a rare condition with her service dog by her side
