The New York Theological Seminary honors educators, entertainers, and covid warriors with virtual gala

NEW YORK - EntSun -- Dr. Noman Khan, DO, is to be celebrated, along with seven other honorees, at the NYTS 17th Annual Urban Angels Awards Gala.  The annual Urban Angels Gala and Fundraiser is NYTS' premier event to honor the "angels" among us for their transformative work in community and society, with the theme being: RELEVANT. RESTORATIVE. REVOLUTIONARY. RESILIENT.

The virtual event will be held on Thursday, June 3rd 2021 at 7 PM ET. Like the rest of us, Dr. Khan watched the ravaging devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike all of us, Dr. Khan had the skills and training to help. In the face of a global crisis, he abandoned his successful plastic surgery practice to support COVID relief efforts and perform necessary procedures for those who suffered from the virus.  And for that, Dr. Khan has been found to fit the noble title of "Essential Angel".

NYTS defines "Urban Angels" as a person, group of people, or organization who/whose has had an impact on global and urban (cities) ministries, innovatively; has created social mobility and/or economic equality in their respective fields; has pushed boundaries in their field; work and passions intersect with the mission and values of New York Theological Seminary.

  • CEO of East Harlem Tutorial Program and Co-Founder of Scholars Academies, Jeff Ginsburg
  • CEO of NYS Health & Hospitals Harlem, Eboné Carrington

  • Taller Salud Executive Director Tania Rosario-Méndez

Though 2021's gala will be virtual, there will certainly be no shortage of star power. AJ Calloway and Darlene McCoy will be hosting an exciting night of music and entertainment including Branford Marsalis, Liang Wang, Anita Wilson, Maurette Brown-Clark and more. New York's own DJ Jon Quick is slated to spin records and keep the party going.
