Texas: Governor Abbott Reappoints Blair To Public Safety Commission

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Nelda Luce Blair to the Public Safety Commission for a term that will expire on January 1, 2032. The Commission is responsible for overseeing the Texas Department of Public Safety, which enforces laws to protect public safety and prevent and detect crime.

Blair, a resident of The Woodlands, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Commission. She is a triple board-certified attorney and serves as the CEO of The Blair Law Firm. As a fifth generation Texan, she has a deep understanding of the state's needs and priorities.

Blair's impressive resume includes serving as a former gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Economic Development Corporation "Texas One" Board, as well as chairing both the University of Houston Board of Regents and Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents. She is also an active member of the State Bar of Texas and has previously served as chair of its regional Grievance Committee.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Blair is also heavily involved in her community. She currently serves as president of the Conroe Independent School District Education Foundation and the Humane Society of Montgomery County. She is also a member and past board member of various organizations such as the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce, The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Texas Conference for Women Advisory Board.

Blair's dedication to public service extends beyond her local community. She was chosen as the initial founding chair for both The Woodlands Township and The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau. Her extensive board service includes organizations such as Center for Houston's Future, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Interfaith of The Woodlands, and Spirit of Texas Bank.

She has also been appointed to Baylor's Truett Theological Seminary Advisory Board and Lone Star College System Chancellor's Advisory Board.

Blair holds an impressive educational background with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law, Economics, and Sociology from Baylor University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center.

With her extensive experience and dedication to public service, Blair is a valuable asset to the Public Safety Commission. Her reappointment by Governor Abbott is a testament to her commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Texans.
