This was Mr. Poilievre's first visit to Texas in over 30 years and he commended the state for its successful economic model of free enterprise. Both leaders emphasized the importance of operating at the speed of business and agreed that a stable regulatory climate is crucial for a thriving economy. Mr. Poilievre also advocated for increased trade between Texas and Canada, highlighting the potential benefits for both countries.
During their discussion, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas' rapid economic growth in various industries such as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production, cattle, cotton, semiconductors, and aerospace. He attributed this success to factors such as tax incentives, a strong workforce pipeline, a friendly regulatory environment, and a robust education system that fosters innovation.
