Texas: Governor Abbott Directs DPS To Increase Public Safety Operations Amid Cartel Violence
EntSun News/11085109
~ In response to the escalating violence caused by Mexican drug cartels, Governor Greg Abbott has taken action to enhance public safety and homeland security operations in Texas. The governor has directed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to increase their efforts in protecting American civilians from the growing threat posed by these criminal organizations.
Governor Abbott stated, "Mexican drug cartels pose a significant threat to public safety and national security." He emphasized that Texas will not back down to these criminals who are terrorizing both Texans and Americans. The state will utilize every tool and strategy available to protect its citizens.
Under the direction of Governor Abbott, DPS will be surging resources from various divisions such as the Texas Highway Patrol, Texas Rangers, Criminal Investigations Division, and Special Operations Group to the border region. Their main objective is to detect, interdict, and apprehend criminals while also preventing any spillover activity from transnational threats.

Additionally, there will be an increase in operations by the Tactical Marine Unit and Aircraft Operations Division along the border. These units will work together to detect and apprehend criminals attempting to cross into Texas.
To further monitor potential threats, Governor Abbott has activated additional personnel from the Homeland Security Division and Texas Fusion Center. They will be monitoring social media and reports of suspicious activity 24/7.
For Texans in need of immediate assistance, they can call either the U.S. Department of State or the Texas Fusion Center. The numbers are 1-202-501-4444 (from outside the U.S.) or 1-888-407-4747 (from within the U.S.) for the U.S. Department of State and 1-844-927-0521 for the Texas Fusion Center.
In light of these recent developments, Governor Abbott has urged Texans currently in Mexico or those with family members or friends traveling there to closely follow warnings from the U.S. Department of State. This is due to ongoing security operations, related road blockages, and criminal activity across Mexico. The safety of all Texans is of utmost importance to the governor and his administration.
