Texas: Governor Abbott Appoints Four To Red River Authority Board Of Directors

~ In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments and reappointments to the Red River Authority Board of Directors. The board is responsible for overseeing the control, conservation, and development of the watershed and water of the Red River and its Texas tributaries.

Tonya Detten, a retired individual from Panhandle, has been reappointed to the board. Detten brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as the director of benefits and systems at PanTeXas Deterrence. She is also currently the board president of Highland Park independent school district school board. Detten holds a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television, and Film as well as a Master of Business Administration in Management from West Texas A&M University.

Joining Detten on the board are two new appointees - Ron Mullins from Archer City and Troy Weber from Denison. Mullins, also retired, has previously worked as a utility regulatory officer for the Red River Authority of Texas. He is also known for his involvement in various organizations such as being the former president of Northwest Texas Water Utilities Association. In his community, Mullins serves as budget committee chairman at First Baptist Church - Archer City and treasurer of Archer County Shooting Sports.

Weber, who is currently retired from Texas Instruments and serves as president of Weber Advisors Inc., brings his expertise to the board. He is actively involved in his community through his role as deacon and finance committee chair for Parkside Baptist Church. Weber also volunteers with Center Cross Soup Kitchen. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

The Governor has also appointed Ruben Arias from Amarillo to serve on the board. Arias is the owner/operator of Custom Water Services LLC and retired from his position as Process Control Supervisor at City of Amarillo's Osage Surface Water Treatment Plant. He is an active member on various boards including serving as secretary and treasurer of the Panhandle Region for Texas Water Utilities Association and as a member of the advisory committee for Texas Panhandle Centers.

These appointments and reappointments are set to expire on August 11, 2031 for Detten, Mullins, and Weber, and on August 11, 2027 for Arias. With their diverse backgrounds and experiences, these individuals are expected to bring valuable insights to the Red River Authority Board of Directors.
