TAP Announces Acting Classes for Young and Old
EntSun News/11080072
STURGEON BAY, Wis. - EntSun -- Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) announces its winter theatre workshops led by Dan Klarer, Community Engagement and Education Coordinator at TAP. Classes will be available for adults over 18 years of age, as well as teen students aged 13 to 18 years old.
Adult classes will be held on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for six weeks starting January 12, 2026. This workshop will focus on public speaking and is for anyone who would like to explore the craft of performance, whether interested in learning the fundamentals of acting for the stage, hoping to overcome stage fright, or to enhance communication and presentation skills for work and life.
Teen classes will be held on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for six weeks starting January 11, 2026. Through a combination of experiential theatre games and acting exercises, young actors will learn the fundamentals of acting for the stage in a fun, inclusive, and encouraging environment. Players will explore a range of theatre techniques from an actor's perspective including improv, physical storytelling, clowning, stage combat, and more.

Adult and teen theatre workshops cost $150 per student. Partial to full scholarships are available for adults through a grant from the Bader Philanthropies. Teen students unable to afford the tuition are encouraged to reach out to Dan Klarer at dan@thirdavenueplayworks.org for assistance.
Instructor, Dan Klarer, is a professional theater artist living in Door County and works as an actor, educator, fight director, stage manager, and costume designer. Dan has taught stage combat and worked at a variety of sanctioned workshops through the Society of American Fight Directors and Dueling Arts International as well as taught clowning, Shakespeare, and acting for young people. "Theatre education is human education," says Klarer, "The skills and experiences that develop through this work are invaluable. Theatre is a gateway to confidence, critical thinking, ensemble building, vocal & physical expression, social-emotional learning, and it's also a fun way to spend a couple of hours."
Through TAP's Theatre Education Program, TAP is able to bring theatre experience to the community - regardless of age, means, or ability - through participatory classes, discussions, assembly-length shows, internships, and partnerships with civic organizations.
