Stand Up To Poverty Delivers Critical Healthcare to Nearly 1,500 Patients in Uganda
EntSun News/11090423
With global healthcare access remaining a critical issue, SU2P is building on this momentum with its next mission to Haiti's Northeast region in August 2026.
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. - EntSun -- Stand Up To Poverty (SU2P), a 501(c)(3) humanitarian nonprofit dedicated to advancing access to healthcare, nutrition, housing, and education, today announced the results of its recent medical mission to Luwero, Uganda where a multidisciplinary team delivered care to nearly 1,500 patients over the course of four days.
The mission addressed urgent gaps in access to care in underserved communities, providing essential medical services across restorative vision, gynecological care, dental care, pediatrics, and general medicine. For many patients, this marked their first interaction with a healthcare provider.
"Access to basic healthcare remains out of reach for far too many communities," said Jean Alfred Mission Director and Founder of SU2P. "Our work in Uganda reflects our commitment not only to delivering care, but to restoring dignity and creating pathways for long-term health outcomes."

In addition to direct patient services, SU2P prioritized capacity building and knowledge transfer as part of its sustainability model. At Bishop Ceaser Asili Memorial Hospital, volunteer physicians led continuing education programs for local healthcare professionals, equipping them with updated clinical insights aligned with current global standards. Topics included disease prevention, patient management, and emerging treatment protocols ensuring that impact extends beyond the duration of the mission.
Key areas of impact included:
"These missions are about more than immediate intervention," said Dr. Marjorie David, Medical Director. "They are about strengthening local systems, empowering providers, and ensuring communities have the tools and knowledge to continue the work long after we leave."
