Springfield, Mo. ~ Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit Investigates Murder of 21-Year-Old Xavier Scott
The Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit is currently investigating the murder of 21-year-old Xavier Scott, which occurred on November 12, 2025. The case has been presented to the Greene County Prosecutor's Office (GCPO) for a review of potential charges.
According to authorities, Candise Hoskins, 28, of Springfield, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder (felony murder), armed criminal action, and two counts of first-degree robbery in connection with Scott's death. Hoskins is currently being held at the Greene County Jail without bond.

However, the GCPO has cautioned that these charges are merely allegations and that Hoskins is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The incident took place at 11:21 p.m. on November 12 at 505 E. Saint Louis when Springfield police officers responded to a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Scott with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been notified.
A suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody by authorities. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with additional information to come forward by contacting the Springfield Police Department or making an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers.
This marks the ninth homicide investigation in Springfield for the year 2025. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
