Siberian State Symphony Cancels Monday Concert; Siberian Virtuosi to Perform March 19 Instead
EntSun News/10806717
FORT MYERS, Fla. - EntSun -- The Siberian State Symphony Orchestra has canceled its Monday performance at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall due to a problem obtaining visas to travel to the United States.
"We regret that the Siberian State Symphony Orchestra will not be here as planned. We just received notification yesterday of the visa issue," said Mary Lee Mann, president of the Fort Myers Community Concert Association, which was bringing the orchestra to Fort Myers as part of its 2020 concert series.
Mann said she worked throughout Wednesday to find a replacement for the cancelled performance and was able to secure the Siberian Virtuosi to perform March 19. Ticket-holders for the January 27 performance can use their same tickets for the March 19 concert.
Ten violinists and a pianist comprise the award-winning Siberian Virtuosi, the State Ensemble of the Republic of Sakha, acclaimed for their energy, unique arrangements and virtuosity. The ensemble has gained an increasing popularity in Russia and around the world since it was founded in 1994, winning numerous international awards in Russia, France, Italy and Hungary. Their eclectic repertoire combines Bach, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi with de Sarasate, Shor, Sibelius and many more.
