GARNER, N.C. - EntSun -- GARNER, N.C. — Shiny Stars, a local nonprofit focused on community service, youth development and cultural awareness, hosted a Holiday Appreciation Lunch this week to recognize the Garner Police Department, Fire Department and Library staff.
About 30 youth volunteers, supported by parents and community members, gathered, prepared, packed and delivered meals to five fire stations, the police department and the town library. Students from Juniper Level Missionary Baptist Church also participated in the effort with support from Pastor Jeffrey Robinson.
Youth and adult volunteers assisted at every stage of the process, including organizing food items, packing boxes and delivering meals. Families contributed a variety of food items such as muffins, cupcakes, pizzas, pastas, fried rice and beverages. The meals were well received by the departments served.
Shiny Stars thanked parents for their support and cooperation throughout the day, including during police department tour wait times, and for helping ensure students remained engaged and respectful.

Older youth volunteers, many of them high school students, took on leadership roles by guiding younger participants, assigning tasks and ensuring instructions were followed. Organizers said the experience helped reinforce responsibility, teamwork and leadership skills.
"It was rewarding to see the event come together through strong youth and adult leadership," said Adarsh Yadlapalli, founder of Shiny Stars. "We are grateful to everyone who helped make this a meaningful way to thank those who serve our community."
Lakshmi Jagadabhi coordinated logistics for the event, including menu planning, delivery schedules, packing and cleanup. Pamela Adams worked with volunteers and maintained communication with the police department regarding tour schedules.
Additional volunteers, including KK, Ankit, Bhargav and their families and friends, accompanied youth volunteers to deliver meals to all five fire stations. Other teams delivered meals to the library and regrouped at the police department. Rajitha assisted during police department tours by helping keep students organized and attentive.

One student participant said the police department tour was the highlight of the day.
The event concluded with youth volunteers receiving service-hour certificates and recognition for their participation.

This is one of the many events Shiny Stars is participating in to bring the community together. "We look forward to expand our events in an effort to bring all communities in the RTP area together. We need as much support as we can get in terms of volunteers, funds to bring this vision in to fruition ", said the Founder Adarsh Yadlapalli.
