This unprecedented showcase dives beneath the shimmering surface of the Hamptons' iconic summer culture to explore the labor, craft, and creativity of pool cleaners, pool contractors, and pool designers working across Southampton, East Hampton, Montauk, and beyond.

Known for its commitment to presenting the evolving story of Seoul's cultural identity, the Seoul Museum of Art expands its lens to the luxurious residential landscapes of the Hamptons—drawing a parallel between the invisible infrastructure of Seoul and the overlooked artistry behind residential pool construction and maintenance in the Hamptons.

"This exhibition allows us to connect the unseen efforts of Seoul's urban fabric with the equally hidden narratives behind Hamptons pool design," says curator Min-ji Choi, "Here, the backyard becomes a canvas, and the pool becomes a site for dialogue."

Every summer, the Hamptons pulses with luxury home improvements—custom pool installations, inground pool builds, and landscape-integrated water features. But behind the Instagram-worthy aesthetics lies a hidden community of invisible professionals: pool cleaners, licensed pool contractors, pool installers.

This exhibition challenges the myth of effortless visibility that defines pool companies in Hampton Bays, Southampton, and Sag Harbor.

This project is part of SeMA's global series, "Urban Echoes", which reinterprets city infrastructure through the lens of contemporary art and site-specific storytelling.
