BALTIMORE - EntSun -- Interview by Jithendra Jithu.
Jithu: Can you please introduce yourself?
Hurst: My name is Christian Hurst. I grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. We weren't a family of means. I've actually always been grateful for that. My imagination took me to other worlds as far back as I can remember. Most kids have a quick answer to "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Mine was always "artist"—but in my mind, there were always a thousand things I wanted to be and a thousand adventures I wanted to have. I ended up getting most of my formal education in graphic design and writing.
Jithu: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Hurst: I've been writing since I was 11—and I'm pretty sure I've been storytelling since birth. Whether it was adventures with stuffed animals, action figures, or acting out ridiculous scenarios with my siblings and friends, stories have always been there. Later, I wrote comics, poetry, video games, plays—you name it.

But I think that's a good thing. The stories that stick—the ones that demand to be written—are usually the ones I end up putting out into the world.
Some stories fall out of me because they've been rolling around for a long time. I've finished a draft in as little as 2–3 months before. Others have taken years...
