SAVE-A-LIFE: Naloxone education and distribution event to be hosted at Columbia Public Library

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - The Columbia Public Library, in collaboration with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS), will be hosting a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Friday, Feb. 20 from noon to 1 p.m. The event will take place at the library's location at 100 W. Broadway.
The purpose of this event is to educate and distribute Naloxone, also known as Narcan®, a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. This initiative is part of a series of free monthly events aimed at preventing overdose deaths from painkillers like fentanyl.
Attendees will have the opportunity to receive both formal and informal training on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone. In addition, Public Health and Human Services staff will be available after the event to provide information and brief training for those who are unable to attend the formal presentation.

Funding for this event is made possible through contract DH240054280 between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
