Moreover, since at least one robot has been officially granted citizenship, and many countries have treaties requiring them to respect grants of citizenship, the Macau police might have to accord the robot the same legal rights as a human sex offender, suggests public interest law professor John Banzhaf, who is also a computer expert who has written about crime on the internet.
