Road to Responsibility Launches Thanksgiving Fund to Help Cover Loss of SNAP Benefits

As SNAP benefits pause during the federal shutdown, RTR turns to the community to help keep the season of gratitude alive

MARSHFIELD, Mass. - EntSun -- Road to Responsibility (RTR), a nonprofit supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, announces the launch of a Thanksgiving Fund to help offset the suspension of federal SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits caused by the ongoing government shutdown.

SNAP benefits will not be distributed for the month of November statewide, leaving RTR without thousands of dollars in monthly support used to help feed residents in its 51 group homes across the South Shore and South Coast.

"This could not come at a worse time," said Christopher T. White, Ed.D., President and CEO of Road to Responsibility. "For the people we serve who live full-time in our homes and depend on us for their daily care. These individuals are part of our community. They deserve the same sense of warmth and comfort we all look forward to during Thanksgiving."

The RTR Thanksgiving Fund will help cover the immediate costs of groceries and holiday meals for residents in group homes, ensuring they can continue to enjoy daily meals and celebrate the Thanksgiving season.

"RTR's mission has always been rooted in inclusion, compassion, and community," added White. "We know our community cares deeply about our residents, and together we can make sure that the holiday season remains a time of gratitude for all."

Donations to the RTR Thanksgiving Fund will go directly toward groceries and preparing Thanksgiving meals for residents across the organization's homes. You can contribute online, here (https://rtrinc.harnessgiving.org/donate/?selected-method=one-time&amount=25&campaign_id=19468) or by contacting Erin Cohen at ecohen@rtrinc.org.
