ReClaim Opens Waitlist for Minimalist Android Launcher Designed to Reduce Screen Time
EntSun News/11103956
ReClaim, a minimalist Android launcher in final testing ahead of its Google Play release, adds friction to distracting apps through blocking, daily limits and reminders. It has no ads and needs no account.
OTTAWA, Ontario - EntSun -- OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada - ReClaim, a minimalist home screen app for Android, has opened a launch waitlist as it finishes final testing ahead of its first Google Play release. Rather than tracking screen time after the fact, ReClaim replaces the phone's launcher, changing which apps are easy to open and which take a moment of intention first. It will be free, carry no ads and require no account.
Apps a person means to use, such as notes, calendar and messages, stay one tap away on a plain home screen with a clock and a short list of favorites. Everything else sits one swipe away in an alphabetical list with no icons.
For apps that tend to be opened on autopilot, ReClaim offers several levels of friction. App blocking removes an app for a set period, from 5 minutes up to a year. Daily and weekly limits close an app automatically when its time is up. App reminders ask how long a person intends to use an app before it opens, then nudge them when that time has passed. Scheduled blocking keeps chosen apps unavailable during windows such as work hours or bedtime, and hidden apps can sit behind a quick challenge such as a math problem.

"ReClaim is meant to make the intentional choice a little easier, without turning phone use into a project," said Tal Aizikov, founder of ReClaim.
ReClaim runs on the device without an internet connection, and the company states that it does not sell personal data. It supports Android 8.0 and newer and does not require root access.
The team also publishes practical guides on reducing phone use, including how to use grayscale mode on Android to cut screen time: https://www.tryreclaim.io/blog/grayscale-mode-android/
People who want to know when ReClaim launches can join the waitlist at https://www.tryreclaim.io.
