Planned PEThood and Jackson County Animal Shelter Deliver Free Veterinary Care to More Than 250 Pets
EntSun News/11084666
DULUTH, Ga. - EntSun -- Planned PEThood of Georgia, and Jackson County Animal Shelter, successfully hosted a high-impact free pet vaccine clinic on February 7 at Maysville Veteran's Memorial Park.
In just four hours, 253 pets (175 dogs and 78 cats) received free veterinary care giving families the support they need to keep their animals healthy, protected, and safely at home.
Residents began arriving early for the first-come, first-served event. Available services included one-year rabies vaccines, distemper/parvo vaccines for dogs, FVRCP vaccines for cats, microchips, and flea & tick prevention. Pet owners also received a voucher for a complimentary spay or neuter surgery, if needed.
"We are incredibly proud to have served so many pets and families," said CJ Bentley, CEO of Planned PEThood of Georgia. "For many households, access to basic veterinary care can feel out of reach due to cost, transportation, or availability. By bringing services directly into the community, we're able to prevent illness, reduce suffering, and help keep animals where they belong -- at home with the families who love them, not entering the shelter system."

Special thanks to the generous support of Petco Love, Fix Georgia Pets, our donors, and the dedicated volunteers, employees, and community members who worked together to make the day a success.
This clinic is one of several events planned for 2026 as part of Planned PEThood of Georgia's commitment to expanding access to care. Through free vaccine clinics and mobile spay and neuter services, the organization delivers essential veterinary care into neighborhoods where families face financial, transportation, or logistical barriers. By meeting pet owners where they are, these efforts help prevent illness, keep animals in their homes, and strengthen communities.
