PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes Awards $50,000 Grant to Soldiers to Sidelines to Empower Military Community as Coaches

TYSONS Va., July 7, 2025 ~ The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes has announced their latest initiative to support the military community. The foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to Soldiers to Sidelines, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering members of the military community through coaching and mentorship.

The grant will directly support 450 individuals and will go towards Soldiers to Sidelines' upcoming Coaching Summit, scheduled for July 24-26th in Nashville, Tennessee. This summit aims to educate, certify, develop and support members of the military community in becoming expert coaches and role models for today's youth.

Andrea McCarren, President of the PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes, expressed her excitement about partnering with Soldiers to Sidelines. "It's a privilege to come alongside Soldiers to Sidelines in their mission of cultivating community connection through athletics," she said. "We are honored to join and support their impactful work with youth and military communities."

Soldiers to Sidelines offers a comprehensive program that empowers and supports veterans, service members, military spouses, and Gold Star families. Through this program, Soldier Coaches are equipped with high human skills and coaching knowledge, as well as connections within the athletic community.
