Community event honoring lives lost to substance poisoning aims to educate, advocate, and save lives through prevention awareness and family support.
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - EntSun -- LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The Marquavies Bernard Broughton Foundation, Inc. will host the Partnership for Purpose 5K Walk/Run and Community Awareness Event on April 11, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Alexander Park in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The event aims to bring the community together to raise awareness about the growing dangers of fentanyl and nitazene poisoning while honoring lives lost to substance poisoning.
Founded by Frederica Roberson in memory of her son, Marquavies "Qua" Bernard Broughton, the foundation was created after Qua tragically lost his life at age 21 due to nitazene poisoning. Determined to prevent other families from experiencing this devastating loss, Roberson established the organization to educate communities, advocate for policy change, and support families navigating grief.
The Partnership for Purpose 5K Walk/Run will feature a community race, remembrance activities, youth engagement, educational resources, vendor booths, and community partnerships focused on prevention and awareness.
