Nova Classical STEM Academy to host Field Day and Community BBQ on March 22

FORT MYERS, Fla. - EntSun -- Nova Classical STEM Academy, opening in August 2026 as the first school in the world to integrate a Classical education model with STEM-enriched, project-based learning, will host a Field Day and Community BBQ on Sunday, March 22, at 12:30 p.m. at its Fort Myers campus, located at 7101 Banway Road.

Designed to bring families together in a relaxed, community-focused setting, the event will feature outdoor games, family-friendly activities and a potluck-style barbecue. Current and prospective Nova Classical families are invited to attend to help foster the collaborative and welcoming culture that Nova Classical aims to build from the start.

The event will also provide an opportunity for interested families to meet newly hired founding principal Matt Sheets along with several of the latest teachers who have recently joined the Nova Classical STEM Academy team.

"One of the things I'm most excited about as founding principal is building a strong sense of community from the very beginning," said Matt Sheets, founding principal of Nova Classical STEM Academy. "This Field Day and BBQ is a fun way for families to get to know one another, meet our teachers and spend time together on campus. We want Nova Classical to feel like a place where families truly belong, and events like this are a wonderful way to start building that connection."

During the field day event, families will learn how Nova Classical blends the timeless principles of Classical education with advanced STEM integration to provide a rigorous and engaging learning experience. The school's model emphasizes critical thinking, strong foundations in language and mathematics, hands-on scientific exploration and character education.

Nova Classical STEM Academy will open as a tuition-free public charter school serving grades K–7, with plans to expand annually to grades K–12. The school is operated by Discovery Science Schools, an experienced education management organization with more than 17 years of success leading high-performing, STEM-focused charter schools across Florida.
