Nick Boulle Closing in on the IMSA Championship Lead
EntSun News/11032534
DALLAS, Aug. 1, 2024 ~ Dallas and Houston-based independent jewelry salon, deBoulle Diamond & Jewelry, made headlines earlier this month as their sponsored team, Inter Europol by PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, secured their first win in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The victory was a result of a dominant performance by driver Nick Boulle and his teammate Tom Dillman.
Boulle wasted no time in making his way to the front of the field, pulling a significant margin and setting up Dillman for success in the #52 Oreca. The duo's victory was secured by less than a second, following their first podium position at Watkins Glen just a few weeks prior. With this win, the team now sits in second place in the standings with 1296 points, only 12 points behind the leaders.
IMSA recognizes the crucial role that Bronze-graded drivers play in the series and honors them with the Jim Trueman Award. This award is named after legendary gentleman driver and team owner Jim Trueman and is given annually to the top-placed Bronze-rated driver in the LMP2 class. It takes into account race results but excludes qualifying points. Along with receiving this prestigious accolade, the winning driver also earns their team a spot on the grid for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Boulle's second-place position, only 20 points away from the leader, is a significant achievement for both him and his teammates Dillman and Kuba Smiechowski.

Reflecting on his win, Boulle expressed his excitement saying, "What a special result – especially to win an IMSA race overall! I'm still thrilled about it, and I hope we can carry that momentum to Road America." He also acknowledged that it felt great to finally secure a win with his crew after working hard throughout the season.
As Boulle and Dillman prepare for their next race at Road America from August 2-4, they will be facing a total of 47 cars on the pre-event entry list. The high-speed 4.048-mile track in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, known as "America's National Park of Speed," is a favorite among drivers and fans alike. The duo will be competing in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class along with 10 other cars.
Despite their combined experience, Road America is a new circuit for both Boulle and Dillman. However, Boulle credits his strong teammate for helping him prepare for the race. He said, "Road America will be new! Having such a strong teammate like Tom Dillman has been a massive help. I don't get to drive very often due to work commitments between our jewelry stores and work events, so being able to lean on him for advice and some help has been massive."

Boulle also mentioned that he has been working hard on the simulator in his free time to familiarize himself with the track before the race. He hopes that this hard work will pay off and they can have a strong result at Road America.
Looking ahead, Boulle's ultimate goal is to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and fight for a class victory. He hopes that their success in IMSA this year will give them a chance to achieve this goal next year.
However, Boulle acknowledges that it won't be easy as he juggles his first priority – his family business – with his racing career. But he remains determined and focused on achieving more wins with his team.
The upcoming race at Road America will be broadcasted live on Peacock (in the U.S.) and IMSA.tv (globally). Qualifying will take place on Saturday, August 3 at 4:15 pm CT while the two-hour, 40-minute race will start on Sunday, August 4 at 2:00 pm CT. Boulle and Dillman will be pushing hard to secure another victory and continue their successful season in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
