MICHELIN Guide Expands Colorado Coverage to Entire State

DENVER ~ Denver, CO - The Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) has announced that the prestigious MICHELIN Guide will now cover the entire state of Colorado. This expansion marks a significant milestone in recognizing and celebrating the diverse and thriving culinary scene in Colorado.

Governor Jared Polis expressed his excitement about this development, stating, "I'm so excited that restaurants across our entire state now have the opportunity to gain recognition in the famed MICHELIN Guide! This is great for our culinary scene and our small businesses." He also highlighted the positive impact this will have on local communities, entrepreneurship, and job creation.

The MICHELIN Guide first expanded into Colorado in 2023 and currently features 50 recognized restaurants in Aspen, Boulder, Denver, and Vail. These include one two-star restaurant, eight one-star restaurants, and four green-star restaurants. With this new expansion, MICHELIN Guide Inspectors will be evaluating a wider range of dining experiences across all four corners of Colorado.

Eve Lieberman, Executive Director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), emphasized the positive effects this will have on the restaurant industry and tourism in the state. "MICHELIN Guide's presence in Colorado has already elevated our reputation for culinary excellence," she said. "Today's announcement will further boost our restaurant industry, our tourism industry, and the neighborhoods and communities across the state that benefit from strong local food scenes."

Timothy Wolfe, Director of the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO), also expressed pride in Colorado's culinary scene and its role in supporting tourism. He stated that this expansion will inspire more travelers to explore different destinations across the state.

More details about the selection process for new restaurants to be included in the guide will be announced in the coming months.

The MICHELIN Guide is globally recognized for its commitment to excellence and quality in the culinary world. It was first established in North America in 2005 with the launch of the New York Guide and has since expanded to cities and regions such as Chicago, Washington, D.C., California, Florida, Toronto, Vancouver, Colorado, Atlanta, Mexico, Texas, and Quebec. The guide awards one, two, and three MICHELIN Stars to restaurants that serve exceptional cuisine with remarkable flavor and execution. It also recognizes restaurants with the Bib Gourmand for providing good quality food at a good value and the MICHELIN Green Star for their commitment to sustainable gastronomy.

The Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) is a division of the Governor's Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Its mission is to inspire responsible and respectful exploration of Colorado by promoting collaboration, inclusivity, innovation, and leadership within the tourism industry. In 2024 alone, Colorado travelers spent $28.5 billion and generated $1.9 billion in local and state revenues while supporting over 188,510 jobs across the state.
