Mesa Provides Summer Energy Assistance for Eligible Mesa Electric Customers
EntSun News/11089640
~ Mesa, AZ - As the summer heat approaches, eligible Mesa Electric customers have the opportunity to save up to $70 on their electric bills. The City of Mesa Energy Resources Department's Summer Electric Assistance program (SEA) is now accepting applications for residential customers who demonstrate a financial need.
The SEA program is specifically designed for current City of Mesa residential electric customers with a total household income of less than $36,958 per year. This program aims to alleviate the burden of higher electric bills during the summer months by eliminating Mesa's monthly service and usage charges for the first 80 kilowatt hours. This could result in savings of up to $24.50 per month on July, August, and September bills.
However, it is important to note that this program is not available for Salt River Project (SRP) customers. Eligible Mesa Electric Customers are encouraged to apply before May 28 as applications will not be accepted after Aug. 1. More information about eligibility and how to apply can be found on the SEA webpage.

In addition to SEA, there are other programs available to assist income-eligible Mesa residents with their utility payments. The Limited Income Senior Rate Program (LISR) offers a 30 percent discount on water bills for individuals aged 60 and older with limited incomes. The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) also has a new statement program called Power AZ, which expands access to utility assistance for more households in Arizona. This program uses the same application as the federal Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which can be found on the DES website.
For those looking to improve energy efficiency in their homes, Efficiency Arizona offers a rebate program for qualified households to install highly efficient appliances and HVAC equipment. This not only improves home comfort but also helps save on energy bills.
More information about these limited income assistance programs can be found on the City of Mesa website. Eligible residents are encouraged to take advantage of these programs to help ease the financial burden of summer electric bills.
