Long Beach Animal Care Services Launches Adoption Specials as It Joins NBCUniversal Local's 2026 'Clear the Shelters' Campaign
EntSun News/11100426
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) has joined forces with NBCUniversal Local's 2026 Clear the Shelters campaign to promote pet adoption and raise funds for animal welfare. The campaign, which runs through Aug. 31, 2026, aims to find safe and loving homes for animals in need.
As part of the campaign, LBACS is offering adoption specials throughout the month to encourage responsible and mindful adoptions. Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his pride in LBACS's participation in this important initiative, stating that it helps animals find loving homes.
For cat adoptions, LBACS is offering a special rate of $16. Dog adopters have the opportunity to name their own adoption fee for dogs over six months old. This pricing includes spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccine costs. Interested individuals can visit LBACS at 7700 E. Spring St. on Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Prospective adopters can also search for available pets by breed, gender, and size on the Adoptions webpage at longbeach.gov/acs and submit an application ahead of time.
In addition to adoption, there are other ways for the community to get involved in supporting local animals such as fostering, volunteering, and donating. LBACS is encouraging residents to consider these options as well.
This year marks the 12th consecutive year that NBC and Telemundo-owned stations have partnered with affiliate stations, animal care facilities, and rescues for Clear the Shelters. Since its inception in 2015, the campaign has helped over 1.3 million pets find new homes.
LBACS has been a participant in Clear the Shelters since its beginning and has seen great success with last year's campaign resulting in 170 adoptions – above normal for the month of August.
