Local Tech Expert Reveals: 8 Out of 10 Slow Computers in Las Vegas Have Nothing to Do With Malware
EntSun News/11088132
Matt's Mobile Tech Support founder debunks the valley's most common tech myth — and explains what's really dragging down your PC
LAS VEGAS - EntSun -- Matthew Vinciguerra, founder of Matt's Mobile Tech Support, has a message for the thousands of Las Vegas Valley residents who've spent money on antivirus software trying to fix a slow computer: you're solving the wrong problem.
After more than a decade of on-site computer repair visits to homes and businesses across Summerlin, Henderson, Spring Valley, and North Las Vegas, Vinciguerra has tracked a clear pattern in his diagnostic data. Eight out of ten slow computers he's serviced have nothing to do with malware. The real culprits — RAM overload, full hard drives, dust-clogged cooling fans, and software bloat — are unglamorous, fixable, and almost universally overlooked.
"The 'must be a virus' assumption is the most expensive mistake I see Las Vegas residents make," said Vinciguerra. "People spend hours running scan after scan. They buy security software subscriptions they don't need. Some wipe their entire hard drive and reinstall Windows — and lose years of family photos — only to find the computer is still slow afterward because the real problem was never touched."
Vinciguerra points to three culprits responsible for the vast majority of slow-computer complaints across the valley. First, startup bloat: most computers have dozens of programs set to launch automatically at startup, quietly consuming memory from the moment the machine powers on. Second, storage capacity — when a hard drive is filled to 95% capacity, Windows literally cannot operate efficiently, using that free space for critical temporary files and virtual memory. Third, heat throttling: in Las Vegas's extreme climate, dust accumulation in cooling fans causes processors to automatically slow themselves down to avoid damage — a silent performance killer that affects a disproportionate number of desert-region computers compared to national averages.

"I've walked into homes in Henderson where someone spent four hours trying to remove a virus that was never there," Vinciguerra said. "Meanwhile, their cooling fan was completely packed with dust bunnies. A $5 can of compressed air and fifteen minutes later, their computer was running normally again. The diagnosis is almost always simpler than people fear."
Matt's Mobile Tech Support serves all of Clark County, including Summerlin, Henderson, Spring Valley, Green Valley, North Las Vegas, Enterprise, and Pahrump in Nye County. The business operates on an on-site model — Vinciguerra brings the tools and expertise directly to clients' homes and offices rather than requiring them to unplug equipment and haul it across town. The company charges a flat rate of $125 per hour for residential clients and $150 per hour for businesses (most problems can be resolved within 1-2 hours), with a one-hour minimum and a "No Fix, No Fee" guarantee: if the problem can't be solved, there's no charge for the visit.
The business has maintained a 5.0-star rating on Google Reviews throughout its decade of operation. Same-day appointments are available.
Three Steps Las Vegas Residents Can Take Before Calling Anyone:
1. Check startup programs — Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), navigate to the Startup tab, and disable any programs you don't need running immediately at boot.
2. Check hard drive space — If your drive is more than 85% full, start there. Deleting old downloads, emptying the Recycle Bin, and moving photos to an external drive can restore performance overnight.

3. Look at the vents — If your desktop or laptop is warm to the touch and the fan is loud, dust may be the culprit. A $5 can of compressed air from any hardware store can make a dramatic difference.
For issues beyond these basics, Matt's Mobile Tech Support offers same-day diagnostic visits across the Las Vegas Valley.
