Libraries For Kids International Expands Impact Through Strategic Trip to Minnesota
EntSun News/11092587
BLUFFTON, S.C. - EntSun -- Libraries For Kids International is proud to share the success of a recent trip to Minnesota, where CEO Laura Winkel spoke at both the Books For Africa breakfast and lunch fundraising events. The visit strengthened key partnerships, opened new opportunities and increased the organization's ability to deliver books to children across Africa.
During the trip, Winkel highlighted the mission and growing impact of Libraries For Kids International. She also worked closely with Books For Africa to take part in a special matching program that doubled the power of donor support. By applying $15,000 raised at its April "Dreams Under the Serengeti" event, Libraries for Kids International secured a "buy one, get one" container match. This means two full shipping containers of books will now reach children in Africa, instead of just one, significantly expanding access to education.

"This strategic move allows us to stretch every dollar further," said Winkel. "It means more children will have books in their hands, and the chance to learn and dream."
The trip also included important diplomatic meetings. Winkel met with Her Excellency Constancia Gaspar, African Union Ambassador to the United States, and His Excellency Agostinho Van-Dúnem, Ambassador of Angola to the United States. These conversations helped strengthen relationships and build future pathways for collaboration in literacy and education programs across the continent, Winkel said.
In addition, Book for Africa presented the Kilimanjaro Society Award, a significant recognition, to Libraries For Kids International. This award recognizes outstanding partners who have made a strong and lasting impact in supporting education in Africa.
"This recognition reflects the dedication of our donors, volunteers and partners," Winkel said. "Together, we are helping change the lives of children, one book at a time."
